One fun thing that I love to do in summer is go to drive-in movies. Drive-in movies are PERFECT for a girls night out and also PERFECT for a date night. However, when you go, you can't just sit in the two front seats of your car watching the movie. Because what's the fun in that?! In my opinion, the perfect drive-in movie night consists of a few essential items. Such as: lots and lots of blankets, pillows, and of course food.
First, make sure you take the right car. Any SUV, truck, or van would do. Honestly, you could take any kind of car as long as you make sure you have a decent trunk size and/or can put down the back seats. Personally, I have an Audi Q5 and I lay down my back seats and it works great!
Now that you know what car you are taking to the drive-in movie, grab as many blankets as you can find. After you gather all of your blankets, you want to lay them down one by one on the floor of your car to make a comfy surface for you to lay on. If you own any large and fluffy comforters or even a mattress pad, or anything like that, bring that as well because the more the better!!!
Next, you will need to gather some pillows. I personally recommend about two per person, depending on the pillow, because with two pillows it is easier to lay down with your head propped up or even if you are sitting up straight it is just more comfortable overall. You may also want to take some extra pillows if you have any because you can take your extra pillows and align then along the walls of your car to make it feel more like a bed. I did not do that this trip but, I have done brought extra pillows in the past and it just makes the overall "bed" more comfortable.
The last thing you will want to bring is some snacks! You clearly want to bring some snacks along because who doesn't like watching a movie without some yummy snacks to eat?! Usually, if there is a drive-in near you, they will have a concession stand but, I love making a gas station run before we leave so I can pick out my own and favorite snacks!
Finally, sit back, and enjoy your drive-in movie experience!
Some helpful tips and drive-ins:
Wear comfy clothes! Such as: leggings, running shorts, t-shirts, and my favorite PAJAMAS!!!
Bring some bug spray. I know that may sound weird but usually you are in a field with your trunk open therefore, some bugs might come in so it is always nice to have just in case.
Make sure you have a full tank of gas. You technically don't need to because if you leave it on it runs almost no gas at all but, its better to be safe.
It is always good to arrive early so you can get the best spot possible!
If you choose to bring a truck bring a portable radio just in case your car wont go loud enough.
If you don't want to stay in your car bring some lawn chairs and a portable radio!
