This entire summer I have been preparing for my first year of college! YAY GO BRUINS!!! And after a whole summer of waiting for move in day to come, IT FINALLY CAME! First off, I was so ecstatic about moving to Nashville, Tennessee because who wouldn't want to move to Nashville? But I am also so excited for what the school year has ahead for me.
When you first start to begin buying and designing your college dorm. First off, pick your colors. My roommate and I went with mainly the navy and pink theme but we also added tons of other bright colors like green, yellow, and even some gold to spice up the plain white and wood room. After you pick your colors the first thing I would buy is your bedding. I recommend getting all of your bedding first because that is the statement piece of the room and therefore you can base the rest of your items and accessories off your bedding.
Once you have gotten all of your bedding you can move onto decor! Shopping for my decor was a gradual thing for me. I first tried to get most of my desk essentials. However, I am also going to be using my desk as my vanity for my makeup so I bought things to a folder holder, to a ringer bowl, and light up mirror.
A pro tip about shopping for decor is save your art work purchases for last! Save the art for last because as you are purchasing all of your accessories, desk items, etc. you may end up adding more colors than you thought. THEREFORE, you want your art to pull the entire room together and incorporate ALL of your colors.
THE MOST IMPORTANT TIP THAT I HAVE IS: you can always buy things when you arrive. DO NOT OVER PACK trust me, I over packed and it was NOT worth it!
FINALLY, sit back and enjoy your beautiful room and make it as homey as possible because this IS your home for the next year and your college is your home for the next four years! So make the best of it and ENJOY!
