Rush!!!

I don't know about y'all, but ever since I was young I've wanted to be in a sorority. Luckily for me Belmont has Greek Life! The way Belmont does Greek Life is a little different than most state schools. Rush lasts four days and each day has a "theme." The first day was spirit wear, the second day was business casual, the third day was pref night, and then BID DAY!

The first day of rush was Friday after class. It started around 3:45 pm and lasted till about 11:00 pm. It was by far the longest night. On the first night we went to four parties, Kappa Alpha Theta, Alpha Gamma Delta, Phi Mu, and Alpha Sigma Tau. Each party is very casual, so you have nothing to worry about! We sat around and talked to members of the sororities. At the end of the night you have to rank all the sororities hoping you get a bid from some the next morning.

On the second day you can receive up to three bids. Not everyone gets three bids that day, so I like emphasize that you can receive UP TO THREE. The "theme" for day two was business casual. Business Casual does not include denim! Once again, at each party you sit and talk and get to know some of the members of the sororities. At the end of the night you will rank ALL the parties that you attended.

PREF NIGHT! On pref night you can receive UP TO TWO bids. This night is the most sentimental. Each sorority has their own ceremony prepared, which gives you a glimpse of what the sorority is like. May or may not have cried in mine. This time you rank your parties in a private room with only four to five other people.

Day four is the best day ever, which is BID DAY! Bid day is when you finally find out what sorority you are in! This had to be one of the best days ever! On bid day I pledged Alpha Gamma Delta! I have been apart of my sorority for only a few days, but I am already obsessed.

Tips:

1. Wear comfy shoes! We walked all over campus therefore if I had heels I brought sandals to walk party to party.

2. I wore my hair up almost everyday because it got super hot in the rooms.

3. Bring water. Sounds self-explanatory, but you talk A TON. Therefore, your mouth gets super dry super fast.

4. Bring mints! Don't want your breath to smell bad when you talk :-)

5. Bring snacks. I don't know about y'all but I get hungry easily therefore, I needed some.

6. They are just as nervous as you so DON'T FREAK OUT. It will all be okay!

7. BE YOURSELF!!! This is the most important. If it is meant to be they will want you FOR YOU!

XOXO,

Caroline
