Happy valentines (and galentines) day! Since today is valentines day, I thought I would share the story of how Tyler and I met. Therefore, Tyler and I met on a retreat called Kairos. For those you who do not know what Kairos is, it is a retreat that the seniors of our high school go to. However, even though this is a retreat for the seniors 12 juniors get asked to go on the fourth Kairos. 12 juniors get asked to go on the last Kairos so those 12 juniors can be the first to lead their own class in the upcoming year. Luckily, I was one of the 12 juniors that got asked to go on the senior Kairos retreat!
Tyler and I ended up in the same small group, the Jimmy Neutron group. Little did I know, him being in my small group was one of the best things to ever happen to me. During Kairos, we hung out a lot and he even thought it would be a good idea to draw all over my face with a purple marker during the night hike. For some reason, this did not bother me because I then took that marker out of his hands and I drew all over his face. We then continued to laugh the entire night as we couldn't take each other seriously with purple marker all over our faces.
Once Kairos was over, we continued to talk everyday. After Kairos had ended, spring break was just around the corner! My family and I were planning on going to Siesta Key and Tyler was planning on going to Longboat Island. For those of you who don't know, Siesta Key and Longboat are about an hour apart. Therefore, as I was in Siesta Tyler thought it would be a great idea if he took an hour long Uber ride to Siesta to spend the whole day with me. Throughout the day he played corn-hole, talked, and of course walked the beach.
Once spring break was over we continued to talk everyday and he eventually asked me to prom! At prom we danced the night away and had the time of our lives! Once May 26, 2016 came Tyler eventually asked me out for real! And from there over a year and a half later we are still together and better than ever!
