One thing that has always been important to me is hair care. Growing up I have always had thin fine, and therefore, I am always looking for new ways to keep my hair looking healthy. I have tried many, many things, and I am still trying new things. However, I have found many things that work for my hair!
Shampoo and Conditioner |
Finding the right shampoo and condition for your hair type can be very difficult. I have tried almost all of the shampoos and conditioners that Walgreens carries. To Garnier, to Pantene, to Aussie, and to my new favorite, Extra Strength Damage Remedy + Coconut Miracle Oil Shampoo.
All I have to say is that I LOVE this shampoo and conditioner! One of my favorite things about this shampoo and conditioner is that it has coconut oil in it! Coconut oil is so good for your hair in so many ways! It helps with hair growth, promotes scalp health, and helps your hair look silky and healthy. Another great thing about this shampoo and conditioner is that its smells AMAZING! It keeps my hair smelling great all day long, and not just when I get out of the shower. Therefore, I highly recommend for everyone to try this shampoo. It has done wonders to my hair!
Coconut Oil |
I try to do a coconut oil hair mask at least once a week. I have been doing this for a couple weeks now because I am really trying to get my hair a little thicker. And it has been working! I have noticed that my hair is getting fuller, and is looking so much healthier. The coconut oil that I use is SheaMoisture.
Brushing Your Hair |
Brushing your hair is very important in keeping it healthy. However, over brushing it can also damage it. The best way to brush your hair is from the bottom up. I had a terrible habit of brushing it from the top down, but little did I know this was terrible for my hair. If you brush it from the top down you are creating more knots, and tearing out more of your hair. Therefore, brush your hair from the bottom, up.
As I said before, over brushing your hair can actually damage your hair. It is not good for your hair because it can lead to split ends, and actually end up in hair loss. I tend to brush my hair every morning when I wake up and right before I go to bed.
No Heat |
Obviously heat is not good for your hair. Therefore, when you use heat on your hair, use a heat protectant. I personally try to avoid heat at all costs. I do this by my either taking a shower at night and wearing my hair up the next day, or I if I shower in the morning I give myself enough time to let my hair air-dry before I go out. Luckily it only takes about an hour for my hair to dry completely.
Wearing Your Hair Up |
I am a girl who loves to wear my hair up. However, you never want to wear your hair to tight. If your hair is pulled to tight it can make your hair fray and break off. Another tip is, you never want to wear your hair up in the same spot because it will have the same effects. Therefore, sometimes I wear my hair in a high pony, and sometimes in a low pony.
Overall, hair care is important for everyone, and it takes time to find your own hair care routine. Don't be scared to try new things and experiment because you never know what will work! I hope some of these tips help you to improve your hair care.
XOXO,
Caroline
