Summer is finally here! Which means it is time to eat lots of ice cream and spend as much time as possible at the pool. This summer I have lots of things planned, and if my summer continues the way it started, my summer is going to be super busy. With that being said, it is very important to prioritize your time between friends and work. I have two jobs this summer which consists of babysitting in the morning, and working at an Italian restaurant at night. Therefore, it is hard at time to squeeze in time with friends. However, I am making it work! I have a couple days off a week and I plan to make the most out of all of them! Below of some of my summer plans!
Pick Flowers |
Summer time is the perfect time to pick flowers. I love to have fresh flowers by my bed at all times during summer. With that being said I usually pick up some flowers from local grocery stores such as: Dorthy Lane Market (MY FAVORITE!), Whole Foods, and a few other grocery stores. (Wow I'm just now realizing how many grocery stores we have.)
Eat Ice Cream |
One of my favorite things to do at night is go and get ice cream with my friends. Side note: my favorite ice cream flavor is coffee ice cream with chocolate sprinkles. However, some of my favorite places to go is Dairy Shed (they have the best soft serve), Greater's (they have my favorite coffee ice cream), Jeni's, and McFlurrys. I know this sounds like a lot of ice cream so I try to limit myself to it once a week. Not going to lie, sometimes I break the 'once a week rule' because I can't resist. However, I try to balance out all the ice cream with frequent visits to the gym.
Pool Time |
Who doesn't love the pool?! And on top of that who doesn't love a good tan?! I try to spend most of my free time at the pool because it is super relaxing, and I love reading a good book. In summer I try to read as much as I can. Therefore, my reading time is when I am sitting by the pool. Currently I am rereading the Harry Potter series because my most recent visit to universal sparked my fan girl over them!
Paint |
Painting is my way of escaping everything that is happening around me. I could sit in my basement and just paint for hours, if I had the time. Sadly, the only time I have to paint is late at night therefore, that causes me to stay up very late. However, sometimes it is worth it so I can get my mind off of how busy I have been lately. I am currently trying to paint things for my new dorm room next year!
Workout |
Working out is a struggle for me, not going to lie. I usually have to wake up early in the morning if I want a good workout in and 8 times out of 10 I sleep in. However, I am working on that and trying to get into the swing go things. My workout routine usually consists of working out on the elliptical for about an hour (one way to make time pass is to watch Netflix), legs for about 20 minutes, arms for 10 minutes, and I am trying to incorporate abs at the end before I stretch.
Drink Coffee |
Honestly, I am probably addicted to coffee, and I just need to coffee in order to get everything accomplished :-)
Read Books |
As I stated before, I love to read book in summer, and I tend to get all my reading done by the pool. During the school year I find it difficult to find time to read so I try to fit as much reading time as possible in summer.
Sleep In |
On my days off I love nothing more than to sleep in. It feels so great to wake up and feel refreshed and fully energized. In fact, after I get a good nights rest I like to run lots of errands the next day.
Travel |
Recently my family loves to take one vacation a summer. This is a new thing for us because we have only been going on summer vacations the past 3 or 4 years. However, this year we are going to the Atlantis. The Atlantis is one of my favorite places to go visit! I love sitting by the pool in the day, and also going on all of the water slides! In addition, every summer I go down to Paducah, Kentucky, where my grandparents live. I usually go down for about a week and it is the best week out of the whole summer! I love spending time with them because they live 6 hours away which makes it hard to see them a lot.
Overall, I am so excited to see what summer has in store for me. I am going to make the most out of everyday and spend lots of time with my friends!
