Repurpose Your Candle Jar

I have always felt so guilty about throwing out cute candle jar and lids, but I never wanted to take the time to scrap out the remaining candle wax. However, I recently stumbled across a pin on Pinterest to help help get the candle wax out with little effort! I thought I would try it and it worked!

Step One: Put Your Candle in the Freezer |

When I first read this I wasn't quite sure how that would help but I thought I would give it a try. The cold air helps shrink the candle wax and separates it from the side of the candle jar. I left my candle in the freezer for about two hours. To make the time pass I grabbed some ice cream and watched a movie. As soon as the movie ended and I went to the freezer to grab my candle to see if it worked and it did! If your candle wax did not shrink put your candle back in the freezer for about and hour and repeat this step until you see the candle wax start to shrink and separate.

Step Two: Grab a Butter Knife |

Run your butter knife along the edge of the candle wax to make sure it has separated enough. Then try to pop the candle wax out. On the Pinterest it said that it should come out in one piece, but personally my candle wax came out in about 3-4 pieces.

Step Three: Dump the Remaining Candle Wax |

This step is easy. Dump your remaining candle wax into the trash can.

Step Four: Add hot water |

Fill your candle jar up with hot water and let it sit for about a minute Then dump the water into the sink and add soap. Make sure you scrub the sides of your candle to make sure all of the excess candle wax comes out.

Step Five: ENJOY! |

You can fill your jar up with many things such as: hair ties, pencils, makeup brushed, bobby pins, lipstick, your options are endless! I personally ended up filling my jar up with bobby pins. Then you sit back, relax, and enjoy your new jar!

XOXO,

Caroline
